Jaden endured months of battle to win his battle with leukemia. He need a bone marrow transplant to survive. Unfortunately, his parents, his brother nor any of his relatives were a match for him. Due to the lack of donors within the bone marrow donor pool, Jaden succumbed to his illness.

Preserve Our Legacy, Inc. was inspired by Jaden’s story. The goal of the organization is to increase awareness within the minority about health disparities and benefits of stem cells via treatment options through donation of bone marrow and umbilical cord blood. Stem cells can be retrieved from bone marrow donations. Presently, there is a shortage of minority donors. The minorities include: African-Americans, Latinos, Asians, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders and those of bi-racial backgrounds.

Preserve Our Legacy has planned a series of walk-a-thons throughout the country during Stem Cell Month in June 2010. The Walk-a-Thons will be taking place in Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago and New York.
